A report said that half of iOS developers in China already have gotten more than 1,300 USD salary.

The apple engineer forum "CocoaChina" published a factual investigation about iOS developers in China. And this report said that half of iOS developers in China already have gotten more than 1,300 USD (= 8,000 RMB) salary.

The total distribution of their salary is as follows:

Less than 480 USD      10%

481 to 810 USD            17%

811 to 1,300 USD        25%

1,301 to 1,620 USD    17%

1,621 to 2,430 USD    19%

2,431 to 4,050 USD      8%

More than 4,051 USD   4%

I think that 1,300 USD (= 8,000 RMB) is a division point in this report, because both range each have about 50% share.

And the following graph is a breakdown of the above graph, and this graph divided developers into 4 types ( Corporate games developer, Personal games developer, Corporate apps developer and Personal apps developer).

The both types of corporate developers who are Getting less than 480 USD salary are less than the total average. And about the corporate developers, the percentage of who are getting more than 1,300 USD salary are more than the total average (Corporate apps developer - 48%  ; Corporate games developer - 59%).

According to the news, the average salary in the urban areas of China is about 631.7 USD in 2012, and this was 11.9% increased compared to 2011.

There is not a time series data in this report, but I think that the salary of iOS developers is increasing more rapidly than the average. In China, Android is a main device as a using device, but a lot of companies have outsourced developing iOS apps or games to China. So the needs of iOS developers are also increasing day by day in China.

We have to pay close attention to the future trends of this.

"Wifiin" can manage accessing each Wifi services that different careers provide. It is a very useful mobile app for travelers and sojourners in China.

In China, 3 big careers (China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom) provide each different Wifi service such as CMCC or ChinaNet. And these users has to authenticate by their mobile phone number to use these each service. Furthermore, this service is not mutual use.
Ex) China Mobile user cannot use the service that is provided by China Unicom and China Telcom.

It is a little bit inconvenient for travelers and sojourners in China.

But "Wifiin" can solve this problem.

This app can be downloaded from here, and the user basically can use it without charge. And this app supports Android smartphone/ tablet (2.3 or later), iPad, jailbroken iPhone and Windows phone.
* This app doesn't support normal iPhone and Windows 8 at this time.

The utilization of this app is very simple. When first boot this app, you can get 100 points. 100 points means that user can use each Wifi service for 100 minutes via this app.

Next you have to click the wifi button in the lower side of the screen to search the available Wifi service.

Blue colored points mean that its service is available. All that's left is to click that button.

After you will use all of this 100 points, of course you can charge additional points. There are two methods to charge this point as follows.

1. Download the recommended app.

You have only to download the recommended apps for charging this point. The points that you can get is different by each app (40 to 100 points).

2. Buy points

If you are a heavy mobile internet user, of course, you can buy the additional point by cash. Basically its price is 0.05 RMB per a minute, so it can be said that it is very reasonable.

I think that this business model itself is making sense. Because this app can solve the problem that travelers and sojourners in China have. Furthermore, the provider of this app can get the ad revenue from the app developers who want to increase the number of downloads. Of course, they can also get the cash revenue from the heavy mobile internet users.

The sole concern is an interruption or impediment from each careers. Because this app has the possibility to decrease the service revenue of each career.

I wish that this provider of this app will reach an understanding with each career. :)

42.4% of iOS user jailbreak their devices in China. But on the newer device, the rate of jailbreak is decreasing.

According to the current report by Umeng, 42.4% of iOS user jailbreak their devices in China. Its breakdown is as follows.

The ratio of jailbreak:

iPhone 3GS  69.2%
iPhone 4       48.6%
iPad              48.3%
iPad(New)   37.0%
iPhone 4S    36.1%
iPad2 3G     32.4%
iPad2 Wifi  31.9%

The jailbreak rate of the newer devices is lesser than older one. This report said that there are two reasons of its result.

1. The difficulty of jailbreak become more difficult than before.
2. The motivation of jailbreak is lower than before.

Actually, Apple is enhancing to measures for jailbreak, there are no method to jailbreak some version of base band. Furthermore Apple already started to provide official app center in China too, and users can download more than 300,000 apps or games from there.

According to the news, China Telecom start to sell iPhone 5 on December 10th, and China Unicom also start to sell it in the end of December.

Let's keep attention how much iPhone 5's jailbreak rate will be.

Taobao formally released their IM tool "WangXin".

Today, Taobao formally released their IM tool "WangXin".

At the moment, it seems that they provide its Android and iPhone client.

And its main functions are as follows:

User can get the news from Taobao.

Voice Chat feature

Friend search feature based LBS.

Taobao said that they estimate its user will be 15 million people at the end of 2012, but is it possible? Actually, from the perspective of IM function, the function of WangXin  is inferior to WeChat(Tencent) or Meyou(Sina). But from the perspective of the cooperation tool of mobile shopping on Taobao, they may have the possibility of success, because Taobao already have 100 million mobile users, and it is estimated to exceed 200 million people at the end of 2012.

We have to continue watching their action as ever, and also have to watch that other internet giants, such as Baidu or Sohu, will follow this trend or not.

The rate of iPad tablet user is six times more than Android tablet user in China.

UMENG, who provide mobile apps analytic tools, published the report that is written about Android and iOS active users status.

According this report,  in China, Android active user increased 87%, and iOS active user increased 42% in the second quarter.

And the ratio of mobile and tablet in each platform is as follows.

The ratio of iOS was 80.8% iPhone and 19.2% iPad, and the ratio of Android was 96.5 % mobile and 3.5% tablets. It also said that the ratio of iOS tablet is six times more than Android tablet.

Next is the ratio of each iPhone devices.

The ratio of iPhone 4S is gradually increasing, on the other hand the ratio of iPhone 4 is gradually decreasing. (But it still have over 50% share.)

Next is the ratio of each iPad devices.

The ratio of New iPad is rapidly growing, but the ratio of iPad 2(Wifi+3G) is totally 73.4%.

And next graph is the ratio transition of iOS version in the first half year.

iOS 5.1 was rapidly increasing, and it became the top share in the each version of iOS on April.

Next graph is the share of each Android device maker in the end of June.

#1  Samsung   23.8%
#2  HTC            18.5%
#3  Motolora    8.0%
#4  ZTE              7.4%
#5  Huawei        6.5%

The other  35.7%

Samsung is the top share in Android device makers, and they dominate a quarter of this market in China. But "the other" also have 35.7% share(mainly domestic device maker), so it also can be said  that this market is still the status of rival warlords.

And next graph is the ranking of each Android devices.

 #1 Samsung Galaxy Ace 4.11%
 #2 Motorola  Defy   3.12%
 #3 Xiaomi  M1    3.11%

Basically Android 2.3 have around 70% share, and its rate of change is stable too. And Android 4.0 also started to increase gradually from May, but its share was still less than 10% in the end of June.

It looks like that China's mobile market still continue to be expanded with a focus on Android and iOS, but it also looks like that there are various changes.

Android smartphone market share in China increased to 76.7% in the first quarter.

According to the report by Eguan, Android smartphone market share in China increased to 76.7% in the first quarter.

Android smartphone market share in Q4,2011 was 68.4%, so that is to say Android market share increased 8.4% in a quarter. On the other hand, Symbian smartphone market share also decreased, and its market share was 11.8% in the first quarter.

Except iOS(that is to say 'iPhone'), other OS smartphone all was decreasing their market share...

It may be said that Android is the only winner in China at this stage.

Microsoft will release Windows 8 soon, and some vendor also will release based HTML 5 OS such as Mozilla. I'm interested in whether they can change the power balance of smartphone market in China or Android continue to be the only winner... :)

The report the number of apps by each App Market in China.

Enfodesk published that a report the number of apps by each App Market in China.

*Blue line = on December , Orange line = on November, Green line = v.s. last month

According to this report,  App market that have the most apps in China was Apple's App store, and the second position was Google's Android Market.

#3 and its later was as following:

#3   91 mobile assistant
#4   189 store by China Telecom
#5   Mobile Market by China Mobile
#6   Samsung Apps
#7   Gfan Market
#8   Anzhi Market
#9   AppChina

#11  Wo store by China Unicom
#12  Nokia Ovi
#13  Le store by Lenovo

And the ratio of paid and free apps by each market are as following:

*Blue Line is free Apps, and yellow line is paid Apps.

The ratio of free apps was very high in Android Market and other related Android App market, but in Carrier's market such as Mobile Market and Wo store have high ratio of paid apps.

As I reported before, Android is the most popular smart phone OS in China. But for considering the success of business, we have to find the other ways of selling Apps.

In Chinese smart phone market, the shipment share of Android device reached about 70% as of Q4'11.

According to the report by Enfodesk, the shipment share of Android device reached 68.4% in Chinese smart phone market as of Q4,11.

As of Q1'11, Android smart phone is the second position in Chinese market, but as of Q4'11 it jumped to the top position, and had a lead of triple score for Symbian.

And from the point of view annual shipment market, its share of Android smart phone was 51.1%.

The reason of this result is very simple, because 3 big carriers in China all was driving force to sell Android device, even if China Unicom who are selling iPhone did that.

And a lot of mobile device company, such as Motolora, HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and so on, was also driving force to sell Android device in China.

2days ago, China Telecom formally announced selling iPhone from March 9,  but we have to pay attention whether its impact will become big or not.
